our History

It all started when…

The Association of Asian-American Women (AAAW) was founded in 1989 by a small group of Filipino women, as the Philippine Women Society. Over time, the organization evolved into a much larger gathering and grew into AAAW. Today we have over 20 members from different countries like Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In 2011, the AAAW received a non-profit 501(c)(3) designation. Membership is open to all who support the mission of AAAW.

OUr mission

The mission of the AAAW is to promote and nurture Asian culture and heritage through education and fellowship and to contribute in enhancing positive growth of our community.

Our vision is to expand cultural diversity in the community by establishing an Asian Cultural Center in the cultural district in downtown San Angelo. The proposed center will allow the Association to offer cultural education, diversity in leadership and business opportunities in our community.
